Advised a three-sponsor syndicate on the structuring and acquisition of a small commercial portfolio across Masaki and Mikocheni — two buildings and one development site.

The challenge

The sponsors had a yield target but no agreement on which assets to pursue, no independent valuation, and three separate vendors each with their own counsel. They needed a coordinated close within a single quarter.

Our approach

We ran a structured intake with all three sponsors to align the mandate, built a shortlist against that mandate, commissioned independent valuations on the two income-producing assets, and coordinated a single legal close across three law firms — with the development site held back for a second tranche.

The outcome

Two buildings acquired at a blended yield in line with the syndicate's underwriting; the development site acquisition followed six weeks later. Full tenancy due diligence completed before close; no post-close disputes.

Structured a six-month cashew export programme linking a Mtwara-based aggregator with a Northern European buyer — covering quality control, documentation, and containerised logistics.

The challenge

The aggregator had the supply relationships but no quality protocol that would satisfy a European buyer, no compliant export documentation pack, and no containerised logistics pathway that could sustain monthly shipments.

Our approach

We installed a pre-shipment quality control protocol with a third-party inspection firm, structured the export documentation pack against the buyer's destination requirements, and coordinated containerised shipment out of Dar es Salaam port across a six-month programme.

The outcome

The programme ran for six shipments. Quality compliance held across the window, documentation cleared on both ends, and the buyer renewed for a second programme at the end of the contract.

Solar mini-grid project structuring, central Tanzania

Client: Regional energy developer

Structured a solar mini-grid project for a regional developer and matched it with a private investor for a phased rollout across three sites in the Dodoma region.

The challenge

The developer had the technical capability but no bankable project structure, no SPV, and no investor-ready documentation. They needed the project structured properly before they could approach any funder.

Our approach

We structured the SPV, coordinated the feasibility team (technical, environmental, and legal), prepared an investor-ready information memorandum, and made targeted introductions to a small shortlist of private investors we believed would fit the risk profile.

The outcome

One investor committed to a first-tranche funding for three sites. The concession pathway with the relevant rural energy authority was agreed in parallel. Construction commenced on site one roughly nine months after structuring began.
